　　热塑性硫化橡胶（英文为Thermoplastic Vulcanizate），又称聚烯烃合金热塑性弹性体,简称为TPV，热塑性硫化橡胶的中文简称为热塑性橡胶（英文Thermoplastic Rubber），简称为TPR，但这个名称容易和其它种类的热塑性弹性体（英文为Thermoplastic Elastomer）相混淆在一起，因为通常热塑性弹性体也被大家叫做热塑性橡胶，尤其是苯乙烯类弹性体，至少在中国似乎"TPR”已经成为它的专有名称了，一提起TPR，就是指以SBS、SEBS等苯乙烯类弹性体为基料的热塑性弹性体，这与苯乙烯类弹性体在民用以及终端消费品领域中消耗量之大是分不开的。

　　热塑性硫化橡胶的名称如果再说的详细一点，那应该是热塑性动态硫化橡胶（英文为Thermoplastic Dyamic Vulcanizate），加了“动态”2字是更具体说明了生产这种热塑性硫化橡胶的工艺---动态硫化，这种工艺指在橡胶和热塑性塑料熔融共混过程中使橡胶硫化，当然在橡胶在硫化的同时也不断与热塑性塑料相混合，因此被硫化了的橡胶是作为分散相分布在热塑性塑料连续相中,简而言之,TPV可由TPO动态硫化后得到。与之相对应的热塑性静态硫化橡胶，就是指橡胶按传统方法先硫化好，然后通过磨粉设备把硫化好的橡胶磨成粉，最后与熔融的热塑性塑料共混，理论上这种方法也能制得性能优良的TPV，但到目前为止，只是处于实验室阶段。
